In memory of Baby Leo

Story

A little insight to Leonardo Canobie-Harris...and his brief life

Leo had a very healthy normal journey for 8 months in my belly until on
22Aug14 at a normal check up in Murwillumbah Hospital at 34 weeks Leo's heart rate was found to be higher than safe.
After an ambulance ride Leo was born at 4:02pm by emergency cesarean in Tweed Hospital weighing a healthy 5.5 pound, and 42cm long.

A normal baby's heart should be between 120-150 beats per minute, the highest Leo's heart was recorded was 240 beats per minute.
We were so lucky to spend the evening with Leo in the intensive care nursery until he was transfered by a specialist team to Brisbane Mater Hospital by ambulance. He spend the night there and Jai and I in Tweed Hospital after my operation and were told we could be transferred in the morning. We said good bye to our baby boy around 11pm that night.

23/08/14 Unfortunatly Leo passed away the following morning after his condition worsened before we got a chance to see him. We arrived by ambulance at the Brisbane Mater Hospital around 10am, this was the first time we got to hold our baby boy. Were fortunate to spend 2 nights in the hospital with Leo in our room in a "Cold Cot" and cuddle him when ever we wanted. To see more about this cold cot go to: http://placuddlecot.gofundraise.com.au/cms/home

This was such invaluable time we spent with Leo, also getting to be held by his grandparents, not all hospitals have cuddle cold cots available for bereaving parents and Tweed Hospital is one not to have one yet.

We also had 2 lovely ladies visit us from the HeartFelt Foundation.
This is a volunteer service to take professional photos and create memories. They then sent us a folder with 52 beautiful prints and a usb with all the original's for us to keep.

We were also provided with a Bear's of Hope Package, this support packages provides an exclusive Teddy Bear keepsake tagged in memory of another families loss, invaluable support literature and other beautiful keepsakes to support, empower, comfort and guide families through the most difficult time of their lives. These packages are the link to an incredible support network, giving parents a place to start before they even leave the hospital.

Until 29Sep for every $45 I raise, a Bears of Support Package will be donated to another family in memory of my baby Leo with his name and date of birth printed in the tag. Click here

This picture below shows Leonardo with his "Bear of Hope".

I would like people to know that I love talking about my baby boy Leo and I would really appreciate it if you could find the courage to talk to me about him too.
Yes I might cry, and you might cry too, but saying nothing at all doesn't take away any of the pain. In fact after a few tears you may even hear me laugh or see me smile, thats because the love and happiness Leo gave me are so strong and so real.
I will never forget the pain, but I will more importantly never forget the love and happiness he brought.
